Wednesday 27 July 2022 - Stonegate Media:
Countryside pub The Farmers Boy in Brickendon, Hertford is to reopen on Thursday 4 August, following a £490,000 investment.
The refurbishment will see the beautiful historic pub reopen with a fresh new appearance, inside and out, including new furniture, decadent flooring, and stylish decor. In addition, during the refurbishment, a new upper back bar has also been added to the pub’s offering.
Traditional themes inside the pub include exposed original wooden beams, as well as a beautiful covered outdoor garden space for visitors to enjoy some shade from the sun.
The Farmer Boys food menu includes traditional pub favourites, such as fish and chips, and Sunday lunches, with an emphasis on fresh meat and fish produce. The pub has a range of offers to tempt visitors in, with lunch from just £8, and a set menu with either two course for £13.99 or three courses for £15.99.
New beverages will see additions from the local Tring Brewery and New River Brewery available for the first time at the country pub, as well as a range of bottled beers and ciders. Also available from the bar will be a number of gins, wines and cocktails for guests to enjoy.
Entertainment in the venue will include live music nights every Saturday to entertain guests, with other events being planned with a Summer Fete After Party in August, and a grand fireworks celebration in November.
Ben Harris, General Manager, The Farmers Boy said “I am hugely excited about the refurbishment and reopening of The Farmers Boy. We have lots of exciting events and ideas in the pipeline for the pub and I cannot wait to get our local community involved. My aim is to keep the Farmers Boy as a hub for everyone to enjoy and I cannot wait to welcome our guests back into the pub, followings its transformation.”
The earliest known reference of the venue to the Farmer’s Boy was in 1862, although it is believed to be older than that. Papers for the Crown Brewery, owned by Thomas Driver Medcalf of Ware Road in Hertford, show that the Farmer’s Boy was known as the Woodman until sometime before 1871.
