This pub was established by 1676 as the Falcon. By 1855 it had been renamed the Bee Hive, but it had its licence removed in 1870. The licence was then taken over by the George, which relocated here from its former address on the High Street (Cock Street) – so effectively it is an amalgamation of two former licenses. **
