Railway Arms, 58 Church Street, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire

Rickmansworth pub history index

The Batchworth Arms, was formerly the Railway Arms at 58 Church Street, Rickmansworth Herts. 1866-1994. It was built from three cottages being knocked into one shortly after the opening of the Rickmansworth ( Church Street ) station situated opposite. The station closed in 1952 and was taken over by a printing firm and eventually the site was redeveloped for housing thus breaking the connection with the Railway and the pub.
The pub took on the name of the local area and became the Batchworth Arms or the ' Batch' as it was known colloquilly.
The pictures show a painting of the pub shortly before it closed and the day it was demolished in 1994
