Mr Sandys (manager to Messrs Phillips) now appeared and said Mr Reed was leaving the house and a new tenant was coming within a few days.

Ernest Creed applied for a transfer of the licence of the Catherine Wheel, at Royston, but as he admitted being three times convicted of drunkenness, the Bench declined to grant the transfer.

The death of Mr Henry Reed which took place at Litlington on Friday last, removes another old Army veteran, who was 76 years of age.
He served his Queen and country with the 6th Dragoons for 23 years in India and Afghanistan and was in Ireland during the Fenian rising.
He had the Afghanistan, and good conduct and long service medals, and was pensioned 31 years ago.
He was at one time landlord of the Catherine Wheel Inn (now closed) in Melbourn street, Royston, and has held the licences of other houses in the district.
