Charge of stealing a Gold ring - William Carter, labourer, of Royston, was summoned on a charge of stealing a gold ring of the value of 10 shillings, the property of Catherine Reed, at Royston, on the 27th May last.
VCatherine Reed, the complainant said she lived at the Jolly Butchers, at Royston. The ring she identified as her property. All she wanted was g=her ring and expenses.
The defendant was until lately a police sergeant at Royston and now at Stevenage.
He must pay £2 or default of three weeks imprisonment.
