The 1851 Census shows a relative of mine, Jane Cole, as being the proprietor of Brewers Arms, Watford, Bushey. I discovered a photo of the Brewers Arms which gives the address as 233 High Street. It existed from 1839 - 1911 when it was demolished. The 1841 census shows Jane and Husband James, who is listed as a Publican, in The Town, Watford. I wonder if they were at the same Pub? ***

William Newberry is my father's grandfather and the publican at the Brewers Arms, from 1881 to sometime after 1902. Susan Newberry died and William then remarried Alice Smith. Six years later William passed away and as far as I know Alice stayed with the pub for a period of time before remarrying and then coming out to Australia. *
