Now called the Waterside (2014). During the war the landlady was Mrs. Chequers. The next landlord was Jim, an ex-navy man who had escorted the Arctic convoys. He was followed by John Sherwood. Shortly after I went abroad. When I came home I contacted my friends and asked if we should meet in the Harbour Lights. They said "no, we don' go there any more, it's been refurbished and lost all its character". *
