My great-grandfather, William Couzens, was the inn keeper at the Strand tavern, now the Solent Inn, in the 1881 census. He died in 1882 and I believe his wife Eliza became the inn keeper until she remarried in 1889. Eliza Damon was at her brothers public house, the Victoria Inn in 1861. *
