My grandfather, Thomas William Tree, was living at this pub from 1885 to about 1897. *
He was living with the licensee, his grandmother, Mary Ann Bolton, and his uncle Henry Bolton.
His mother, Ellen Bolton, died when my grandfather was aged 4 in 1885. I have this info from memories of relatives, the census of 1891 and birth, marriage and death certificates.
