My great (x3) grandfather's brother was called William Edward Randall
(1818-1867); and in the 1851 census he is running the Sun Inn in Bredgar
Milton. In 1858 and the 1861 census he is running the
Birmingham Arms, Chatham
High Street. In the 1871 census his widow, Elizabeth Randall (1818-1871)
is running the Black Boy, 120 Chatham High Street with their daughter
Sarah Ann. ***
William Edward's older sister Rebecca married a James Leadbetter
(1805-1892). In the 1841 census he is living at Bond Street (now Bond
Way) in Vauxhall, and is listed as a publican. There was a pub called the Champion in Bond Street, so it is possible
that he was running that pub in 1841. By the time of the 1851 census
they had moved to Charlton where he is listed as running a "beer shop".
