The house stood in High street, in a well populated district, and considered to be under good supervision. It was a large house, the premises were in good condition and appeared to be suitable for public requirements.
There appears to be ample bar accommodation. It is 75 yards distance from the Greyhound, and from the Swan and Mitre 70 yards; plus from the Bell about 160 to 170 yards. The house had changed hands five times since October 1897.
