CAPEL, or CAPEL LE 'FEARNE, is in Dover union, Folkestone hundred,
lathe of Shepway, East Kent, two miles and a half north of Folkestone,
four miles and a half west of Dover. The church, esteemed a chapel to
Alkham, is dedicated to St. Mary. The Rev. James Eveleigh is the
incumbent; the Archbishop of Canterbury, patron. The population in 1851
was 183. On the shore are Martello Towers. Thetmore is half a mile
south; Summerport, one mile south; Coldham, one mile and a half S.W.;
Hockley and Sole, three quarters of a mile west; Tumbletie, three quarters
of a mile west.

Folkestone.
