CHALK is a village and parish, five miles from Rochester, and two from
Gravesend. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The living is a discharged
vicarage, in the gift of the Dean of Rochester. The population in 1851 was 291.
Denton is a parish, and chiefly a suburb of Gravesend, but has no church. The
population is 111.
POST-OFFICE. - Henry Lorden, Receiver. Letters are received through Gravesend,
which is also the nearest Money Order Office.
