Our research shows this was actually a Beer house rather than a pub, part of the beerhouse act of 1830. the premises was built in 1856, part of a terrace called Pembroke place; it shut down in 1919 due to a lack of trade and was later demolished to allow widening of "new road".  Licensing records show our G.G.G granddad George Hilburn was the "landlord" from 1867 to 1873, George appears as head of house new lord raglan on 1871 census. *
