He served in two wars
Yeoman of signals Charles F Taylor, licensee of the Spread Eagle, Jeyes Street, Chatham, has been awarded the British Empire Medal for his work on the staff of the Commander in Chief, at Chatham.
Mr Taylor, who served in the Navy for 32 years, received a letter from the Admiralty a year ago in which he was complimented on his service in two wars.
He was also commended by Admiral Lord Tovet, former Commander in Chief, The Nore.
Forty eight years of age, he is married and has one child, Shirley.
He was for some time licensee of the Rose and Crown, High Street, Chatham.
