Listed as the Staff of Life in the 1901 census
The Beehive public house was in Cooling Street, to the south of the present Staff of Life. This thatched beerhouse was somewhat unusual due to its being round. There is an 1908 picture in the book - Cliffe in Old photorpaphs by Allan Cherry
