Assembly Rooms, Harmer Street, Gravesend

This pub was associated with the Grand Theatre and it had a succession of names. Established as the Institution Shades by 1846, it was called the Assembly Rooms by 1866 and the Grand Bars by 1920. Name given in 1913 as Theatre Tap, and in 1922 and 1930 as the Theatre Bar. The theatre closed in 1933, but the pub remained open until the roof fell in in 1952. A new replacement pub was built in 1953 – this took the name the Call Boy. In 2010 the pub was renamed Liquorice. **
