This pub was established as the Clarence Arms Hotel by 1832, with the address originally given as 46 Windmill Street. It had become the Clarence Arms at 77 Windmill Street by 1861 – possibly a replacement pub for the former hotel. There was also a Clarence Tap in Star Street in the 1840s. **
