Wednesday 10 August 2022 - Stonegate Media:

The Somerset Arms, Gravesend will be hosting the official Gravesham Pride after party to end the day of festivities. Gravesham Pride will take place on Saturday 13 August 2022 and the after party will run until the pub closes at 2 am.
Organisers have announced that this year Gravesham Pride will be bigger and better than ever before, including a Traditional Pride March. The Pride March will start at Community Square and will march up to Fort Gardens, where a big party will take place for everyone.
The pride event will see Live Music, DJs and Entertainment, Market Stalls, Life & Wellbeing Zone and Kids Zone. Attendees can bring their own picnics or get something from the many foods and refreshment stalls.
The Somerset Arms will also be a designated safe space for LGBTQIA+ members of the community. Staff will be wearing Gravesham Pride T-Shirts and the pub will be flying LGBTQIA+ flags inside and outside to let people know it is a space where everyone is welcome. Laura, Operator of The Somerset Arms, said; “We are really looking forward to hosting the Gravesham Pride after party. The Somerset Arms is a Safe Space where all are supported and welcome. I am so happy that The Somerset Arms has been recognised in this way and I want to help other venues, businesses and trades achieve this as well. I am delighted to have been made a Safe Space Ambassador.” Gravesham has a long history of social integration. However, despite having an estimate of over 8000 LGBTQIA+ people living in Gravesham, there is a lack of support and representation in the area. This among other reasons is why the Safe Spaces initiative exists.
Safe Space by Gravesham Pride is a business directory intended to showcase local businesses considered to be “Safe” by the LGBTQIA+ communities of Gravesham and surrounding areas.
