HARTLEY is a neat village, four miles east from Farmingham, six miles from Gravesend, S.W., and six miles from Dartford, S.E. The population in 1851 was 227. The church is a small and neat building; the Rev. Edwin Allen, M.A., is the incumbent. Grub street is half a mile west, and Idley one mile S.E.

Letters received through Dartford. The nearest Money Order Office is at Meopham.
