Melvilles 1858 Directory of Kent.
IGHTHAM is a village and parish, six miles N.E. from Sevenoaks, and two miles
and a half S.W. from Wrotham. The church is dedicated to St. Peter, and is an
ancient edifice. The living is a rectory; patron and incumbent, the Rev. Roger
Bird, M.A. The population in 1851 was 1,121.
There is also a Wesleyan chapel here. Borough Green is three quarters of a mile
N.E.; Bastead, one mile S.E. ; Ivy Hatch, one mile and a half south ; Mote, two
miles south; Wimlet Hill, two miles south; Crown Point, one mile and a half
S.W.; Oldbury, half a mile west. Redwell and Preston, are other places.

which is also the nearest Money Order Office.
