Melvilles 1858 Directory of Kent.
MOLASH, or MOLD ASH, is a small village, nine miles north of Ashford station,
and six miles east of Charing, on the road from Canterbury to Maidstone. The
population in 1851 was 346. The church is small, and is dedicated to St. Peter.
The living is a chapel-of-ease to that of Chilham. West Street is half a mile
north; Pearfield Green, one mile west; Bower, half a mile N.E.; Bugles, one mile
N.E.; Prested and Hagdell Drylands, half a mile N.E.; Guzzle and Beacon Hill,
one mile north ; Bound Gate, one mile N.W.; Bamson Lees, one mile and a half
N.W.
POST-OFFICE - Cephas Goode, Postmaster. Letters received through Ashford.
The nearest Money Order Office is at Charing.
