My Great great grandfather William J Robins was still at the
Red Lion, Bluetown on 30
Oct 1883 but had moved to the Swan by 29 September 1887. He must have
moved tenancies between these dates. His widow died 1 September 1908;
and his
son Cecil J Robins subsequently became the landlord. *
Cecil J Robins enlisted in the first world war and was killed on the 2
August 1918. His death is recorded on the memorial which stands roughly
where the Swan was. *
Earlier my great great grandfather was landlord of the Red Lion Bluetown
and I know my grandmother was born in that pub; and in 1881, his parents
are at the Hero of Crimea,
Sheerness. *
