The death has occurred at Ramsgate of Mr Charles Sinclair Lewis, licensee of the Elms Hotel, on Monday. He caught a chill, from which pleurisy and pneumonia developed.
The deceased gentleman, who was forty five years of age, was a native of Broadstairs. He served as a steward in the P and O Line, and lived in the United States of America for some years as steward of the Westchester County Hunting Club, White Plains, New York, and in the service of Mr Benedict, millionaire.
Returning to England in 1911, on the Lusitania, he became licensee of the Elms Hotel.
