George Burren (1838 - 1885), is the nephew of James Burren senior, at the
Five Bells, Rochester and then the
Blakeneys Head, St Bartholomew. ***
After George BURREN, publican in 1871 & 1881 of the 'North Foreland', High
Street, Chatham, died in 1885, his widow (3rd wife) Harriett Hannah née WRAY
soon (1886) married widower William LANGFORD, who had also previously been a
victualler in Chatham (when his 1st wife Mary was still alive). Although
William LANGFORD was still recorded as a victualler in High Street,
Rochester St Margaret, in the 1881 census, and was clearly still in charge
of a pub there - i.e. his wife was described as victualler's wife and a
niece was described as bar maid - at the
Ordnance Arms, 376 High Street, Rochester.
