RUCKINGE is a parish, seven miles south of Ashford, 21 miles from Canterbury,
and one mile from the railway station at Ham Street. The church
of St. Mary Magdalen is small, and in good repair. The living is a rectory,
in the patronage of the Archbishop of Canterbury; the Rev. Charles Barlow,
M.A., is the incumbent. The population in 1851 was 402. Horton Green
is a hamlet one mile north; Gasserd Green and Harding Green are two
miles north.
POST-OFFICE- Mrs. Charlotte Wanstall, Post-Mistress. The nearest Money Order
Office is at New Romney.
