My great grandfather Abraham Adams Brockman who was born in Mill Cottage,
Grange Road Ramsgate in 1870, and his wife Eliza Neptune operated the Kings
Head from some time in 1893. Two of their children, Alfred born in 1894, and
Ethel born in 1895; were born at the Kings Head. Abraham and Eliza left the
Kings Head at some time between late 1895 and 1899 when I can establish that
they were living in Ramsgate.
Abraham's branch of the prolific Brockman family came from nearby Brooksend,
Birchington and Monkton. He relished the opportunity to spend time with them
hunting and fishing, leaving Eliza to run the show but eventually she tired
of this and insisted that they relocate to Ramsgate where Abraham resumed
his former occupation as coachman.
Aware that other websites claim that Thomas Smith was the publican of the
Kings Head during this time I sent for Ethel's birth certificate which
confirms that Abraham was a 'licensed victualler' at the Kings Head Sarre. *
