Bromley & West Kent Mercury 09 May 1941
Mrs Emma Whitehead, of the White Swan, Kent road, St Mary Cray, pleaded guilty to an offence at 9.50 p.m. on April 13th and was fined 20 shillings.
Evidence was given by Special Constabulary Robertson who saw a light coming from the public bar. A light lock was fitted with a curtain and there was black-out material on the door. Every time anyone came out they had to pull back the curtain and a beam of light lit up the buildings on the other side.

My father’s father, William H. Reeves, was a licensee of the White Swan when my father was married in 1954. I believe my father was living there at the time. I don’t have exact dates for when my grandfather was its landlord. ***
