St Nicholas Public Houses
ST. NICHOLAS, or ST. NICHOLAS-AT-WADE, is a parish close to the sea, four miles
N.E. from Grove Ferry station, six miles and a half S.W. from Margate, and 10
miles N.W. from Canterbury. The living is a vicarage, in the gift of the
Archbishop of Canterbury, and incumbency of the Rev. John Hilton. The population
in 1851 was 604. Down Barton is half a mile S.W.; Bellisle, one mile west;
Chambers Wall, one mile N.W.;
Bartletts, one mile north ; Suarts, one mile north; Upper and Lower Hale, one
mile and a half N.E.
Letters received through Margate. The nearest Money Order Office is at Herne
Bay.
