Swanley is a parish formed from Sutton at Hone in 1862

SUTTON-AT-HONE is a village, three miles from Dartford, and seven miles S.W.
from Gravesend. The population in 1851 was 1290. The church is dedicated to St.
John the Baptist. The living is a vicarage; the Rev. John Hotham is the
incumbent. Clement Street is half a mile west; Goss Hill, one mile west;
Malthouse, one mile and a half west; Gilton Hill, one mile west; Swanley, two
miles S.W.; Holmfield, half a mile S.W.; St. John's, a quarter of a mile east;
Burnt House, half a mile N.W.; Rookery, one mile north.
POST-OFFICE. - Mrs. Susannah Squire, Postmistress. Letters arrive through
Dartford,
which is also the nearest Money Order Office.
