THROWLEY is a parish, 11 miles from Canterbury, 10 miles from Ashford station, and five south from Faversham. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. The living is a vicarage, in the gift of the Pebendary of Rugmere. The Rev. Okey Nash, M.A., is vicar. The population in 1851 was 614. Belmont is a handsome mansion, the residence of Thomas Townsend, Esq. Hookey Hole is a quarter of a mile south; Clares Fostal, one mile south; Wilgate Green and Wilderton, one mile N.E.; Tong Green, one and a half mile south; New York, half a mile west.
