WATERINGBURY is a large village, five miles and a half west of Maidatone, in the
lathe of Aylesford, Twyford hundred, and Malling union; and has a station on the
Maidstone branch of railway. The church is a handsome gothic building. The
living is a vicarage, in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Rochester, and
incumbency of the Rev. Henry Stevens, M.A. The population in 1851 was 1,310. Bow
Bridge is on the Medway. Wateringbury Cross adjoins the village. Lillyhoo had,
in 1851, 43 inhabitants.
