WOODCHURCH is a large parish, eight miles south of Smarden, four
from Appledore station, and five and a half from Tenterden. The church
is dedicated to All Saints, and stands upon rising ground on the borders of
Romney Marsh. The living is a rectory, in the patronage of the Archbishop
of Canterbury; the Rev. Arthur Cozenove, M.A, curate; and the Rev. F. B.
Wells is the rector. The population in 1851 was 1286. Spotgreen is one
mile and a half east; Brickwall, half a mile west; Brook Street, one mile
S.W.; Towling Green, half a mile south ; Redbrook Street, one mile north;
Plurrenden and Hales' Place, two miles N.W.
POST- OFFICE.-John Bright, Postmaster. Letters received through Tenterden, which
is also the nearest Money Order Office.
