WOODNESBOROUGH is a large village, one mile and a half west of Sandwich. The church of St. Mary is a neat structure. The living is a vicarage, in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Rochester. The population in 1851 was 813. Grant's Grove, Polders. Each, Comb, Poulton, Turney, and Ringlestone, are other hamlets.
