Ellen Holt, wife of Frederick Holt, formerly landlord of the Warpers Arms Lancaster, applied at the Borough Police office, on Thursday, for protection for her goods and chattels against her husband, who had deserted her.
Sh had been married to her husband for tweny years, and had lived with him up to seven weeks ago, when he deserted her, after threatening to cut her throat.
Application granted.

An appeal was entered by Mr Joseph Smith, the landlord of the Warpers Arms, James street, Lancaster, against the decision of the Borough magistrates to refuse to renew the license to that house on the ground of insufficient annual value. The decision was reverted after revaluation by builders and surveyors.

Auction Lot 5 consisted of the "Warpers Arms" beerhouse, James street, with appurtenances abd two dwelling huses adjoining, were purchased for v£610 by Mr James Hatch on behalf of the Corporation.
