1 The Nook, Griffiths street - Colman Fitzgeralds family has run Liverpools Chinatown pub The Nook, in Griffiths street, for 35 years.
Colmans mother, Eileen Mary Jones, ran it from 1945 until her death six years ago. She presided over the bar wearing a glorious big picture hat.
Colman, now 51, joined her when he finished National Service in 1949. Now he manages the pub with help from his brother Gerald.
The reputation of the Nook as a friendly local serving a good pint was carried throughout the world by Chinese seamen.
Colman Fitzgerald was born in Liverpools old Chinatown but his parents were from Cork. He has picked up a smattering of Chinese and he speaks it with an Irish accent!
