Mr I H Soulby retired from the Cock Tavern, Hackney recently. thus ending an
association with the Company which had lasted for fifty six years. Her
father Thomas Girling took over the Cock in 1895, and after his death in
1909, his wife carried on. Mrs Soulby married in 1920 and after running
several houses with her husband, she returned to the Cock. In 1933, both her
husband and her mother died, but she carried on as the licensee until the
present time when ill health forced her, unwillingly, to conclude this
	remarkable record. ***
