From 1945-1955 The Globe was occupied by Dorothy Milford, plus her daughter & son-in-law Joan & Lawrence Rutter, and her grandson John Rutter (composer and conductor, now Sir John Rutter CBE) *+

My interest in The Globe, and how I came to have the info re Dorothy Milford and the Rutter family's occupation 1945-1955. *+
Last week, Sir John Rutter was Radio 3's Composer of the Week, and he mentioned having discovered an old piano on the top floor, which he presumed had been left behind by a previous occupier. Being a bit of an amateur local/family historian, I decided to try and find out who the previous occupiers might have been - and came across your most interesting website.
