I am particularly interested in this old pub as the 1871 census indicates
that Sarah Robinson, our 2nd great grandmother, lived there with her uncle
and aunt, Thomas and Emma Banister. Thomas was the landlord at the time. **

This is where my great grandmother Violet Mary Simmonds was born 10th Feb
1892, daughter of Thomas & Caroline Simmonds (nee Williams) and where Thomas
Currie Simmonds, Licensed Victualler and father of Violet died 10 months
later 17th December 1892 age 39. (Probate went to his wife Caroline 14
January 1893). ***
This Simmonds family had changed their name for some strange reason after
1888 from HASKOW to Simmonds and moved to Rotherhithe from Hackney. Two
years after Thomass death in 1895 Caroline was living and taking the name
of George Henry Long, Licensed Victualler Manager. Whom she later married in
1905. ***
