Landlords, legends, census records, and lost taverns.
This pub was founded in 1725 as the Coach & Horses and briefly took the name the Ben Caunt's Head, before being re-named the Salisbury Stores in 1865. The LV Association directory of 1865 still lists it as the Coach & Horses. It was re-built in its current form in 1892. In more recent years the name has been abbreviated to the Salisbury. **
It was a Greene King public house in 2017, and still in March 2026. Greene King has announced plans to sell off, or convert 150 pubs into tenanted or franchised locations, as the UK hospitality sector struggles with rising costs.
