Hit or Miss, 10 Cork street, Camberwell SE

Camberwell pubs history index

I am trying to confirm a pub inscribed on the base of a circa 1890 pewter pint mug I have just bought. It is inscribed ‘Hit or Miss’, Cork Street, Camberwell and the dealer thinks the monogram on the front is ‘JGR’ and that the pub belonged to Highbury Brewery. I have been able to establish that there was a pub at 10 Cork Street but not the name of the pub situated there.
I have also been able to establish that Highbury Brewery had a ‘Hit or Miss’ pub in Cork Street, Camberwell which was amongst five of its dozen or so pubs ‘referred for compensation in 1907’ to which I have connected that in 1896 FH & AS Taylor (later Taylor Walker C/L) of 52/54 Holloway Road Islington registered to acquire / take over various breweries / pubs which it did by 1912, closing some 40 public houses in the process.
So presumably Taylor Walker took over Highbury Brewery which the Hit & Miss was owned by / tied to and that was the end of the Hit & Miss and it was completely closed and the site used for other purposes. **
