In Freebmd in September 1925 at Hastings is a marriage noted between a Bertha Steward and a George W Crawley.
My great grandfather was the Publican of the "Green Man pub at Goose Green, Hoddesdon in 1939 *
Mr George William Crawley is the "Publican" and on the far right of the page it can be seen that he was a retired Prison Warder. He was in fact a prison warder at Pearls Hill, prison in Singapore between 1903 and 1924. His wife, Bertha Crawley (Formerly Steward) also ran the "Apple Tree & Mitre pub at 30 Cursitor Street, St Clement Danes with her parents and family in 1921.
I have no idea of how long they ran the "Green Man" nor do I have any pictures of the couple or the pub, so if you know from where I may be able to obtain some, I would be most grateful.
