West London Observer 06 April 1895 - Transfer of Licences
The Imperial Arms, 577 Kings road, from H W Phipps to W T Richards

My Great-Grandparents were both in the public house business in the late 19th - early 20th centuries. Their names were Frederick (or John or Charles) Ellis and Sarah Ellis (nee Harvey). They were married in 1893 and their marriage certificate quotes John Charles Ellis as being a barman and Sarah Harvey as a barmaid, most likely in the Fulham area of London.
On the baptism in November 12th 1893 Florence Lilian Ellis is baptised to Frederick John Ellis and Sarah Ellis, he is a Barman with abode of 2 Thorpes terrace. **
On the baptism in February 24th 1895, Dorothy Alice Ellis is baptised to Frederick John Ellis and Sarah Ellis, he is a licensed victuallers manager with abode of 2 Thorpes terrace.
On the baptism in March 18th 1896, Mona Alice Ellis is baptised to Frederick John Ellis and Sarah Ellis, a publican with abode of 577 Kings road Fulham; this must be the Imperial Arms.
Frederick died in 1900 leaving Sarah with 4 children, 2 of which went to live with relatives but the other 2 were admitted to the workhouse. He would have been 31 years of age according to the records.
