There is a mistake on the Census information for Charles Claridge Howland - it says he was 33 in 1881, but in fact he was 53. The mistake was actually made by the people transcribing the census records. However, I've found him on census records from 1841 to 1871 and as he was 33 in 1861 and 43 in 1871, he couldn't really have started counting backwards. *

Charles Claridge Howland  died in 1890 and his widow ended up living in a house which is now a Community Centre where I'm chairman. I'd been looking up her origins.  *
