The address in the 1882 street directory is at 1 Oxford
Street, which is renumbered to 2 Oxford Street in 1882. The name appears to
be given as "A.1" in the 1881 census return. * The 1890s photo of
the A1 Boziers Court, (which is the narrow street on the left); whilst
Tottenham Court road is the main street on the right. The entire block was
demolished in 1900 to widen the junction with Oxford street. The pub name is
	visible at roof level. **
The street which was famous for its bookshops came under the jurisdiction of
three parish councils (St. Marylebone; St. Pancras; and St.
Giles-in-the-Fields) who spent 25 years wrangling over who would pay to buy
the property and knock it down. In the end it was the London County Council
who paid for the work. **
