The remains of the late Mr S. Blake, of the “Globe” Hotel, Marylebone-road, were cremated at St. Marylebone Crematorium, Finchley, the ashes later being interred in St. Marylebone Cemetery.
The chief mourners at the funeral were Mr R. Blake (son), Mr. and Mrs. T. Ramer (brother-in-law and sister), Miss D. Potter, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Potter, Mr. B. Merrett, Mrs. F. Browne, Mr. D. Baker, Miss Haywood, Mr. Medcalf, Mr. J. Cave and representatives of his Masonic Lodge No. 2738.
Floral tributes were received from: Ray; Louie, Harold and family; Dot; Ethel and Jack; Ben, Bella and family; Et, Fred and Grandad Potter; Derby and May; Lodge 2738; Mr. and Mrs. A. Blake, Messrs. My interest in The Globe, and how I came to have the info re Dorothy Milford and the Rutter family's occupation 1945-1955. *+
Last week, Sir John Rutter was Radio 3's Composer of the Week, and he mentioned having discovered an old piano on the top floor, which he presumed had been left behind by a previous occupier. Being a bit of an amateur local/family historian, I decided to try and find out who the previous occupiers might have been - and came across your most interesting website.
