Carpenters Arms, 46 Dante Road, Newington Butts, Newington, SE11

Newington pub history index

The Carpenter's Arms in Dante Street, Newington was a replacement for the Carpenter's Arms in Pleasant Place, Walcot square, Lambeth (this became part of Brook Street in 1881 and is now Brook Drive). First mention of it that I have found is in the Morning Chronicle in August 1810, although the building is on Horwood's 1799 map. *
The address is shown as 1 Pleasant Place on Horwood's 1819 map.
Post Office directories for 1860, 1865, and 1870 list the address as at 12 Pleasant Place - the Carpenter's Arms with William Spreadbury.
