Poplar pub history index
This pub was established in 1765 as the Angel, the name changing to Queens Arms after 1849 and a music hall licence was first granted in 1856. At 150 Poplar High Street before 1871 and renumbering. From 1873, the pub and theatre were united under the same roof and the premises increasingly became more theatre and less pub. By 1897 it was the Queens Theatre, eventually demolished in 1964. **
