My grandparents were the publicans of the establishment between 1943 - 1953. My father knew the names of the two previous keepers of the Victoria before my grandparents. He assumes that after A.B.West left, it was taken over by a Harry Josiah Wenmen who when he left (my father says that H.J. Wenmen went to the Aberfeldy Tavern after leaving the Victoria) handed it over to a Percy Rowe who handed it over to my grandparents. Alice Elizabeth Preston & Charles Joseph James Preston. My father says that the Victoria had an unusual licence in the respect that they were only allowed to sell beer & wines but not spirits. I went through the list of pubs in E14 that were on display with my father & while it is a recent list, there were a great many that he knew about. He also worked for Whitbreads for 41 years & spent 7 years delivering beer (as a lorry driver) in the pubs around central & North London.***
