Hicks Tavern, 55 King Street, St Annes, Soho

aka Hicks Coffee House Tavern in 1839,  1856 and 1857, near the junction with Frith Street in 1869. The pub was rebuilt in the mid-1880s, when Shaftesbury Avenue was constructed along the line of King Street. It was renamed from Hicks Tavern to The Shaftesbury at the same time. The pub is also named the Old Hicks briefly in the 1840s. *
